Just Bee is a local honey business that provides raw and local Kuwaiti honey. You might have come across them at Qout Market but what a lot of people don’t know is they are promoters of urban beekeeping and that they have a beehive installation service. Just Bee don’t have their own beehive location, all their honey that is sold is produced from beehive hosting.
“At Just Bee we promote Urban Beekeeping and our vision is to be able to provide our community with honey from every area in Kuwait, to do that we need to team up, and we do that by allowing locals to host beehives for us.”
So how does it work?
Well there are two options, you can either Host a Hive or Own a Hive.
Hosting
First book a consultation with a Just Bee beekeeper so he can assess your location and the available space to check if it is suitable the bees, and recommend needed shelter to protect them from the cold in the winter and the heat in the summer.
As a host they will ask you to set up a minimum of 6 hives so that it’s worth their time and effort.
They handle the installation and all the costs involved with the hives. THEY also supervise the hives by visiting them as frequently as every two weeks.
By the end of the season, they will give you 10% of the honey that has been harvested as a barter for the space that you provide!
The honey is then branded with the name of the Area, making the honey literally come from your home!

Owning
Again, you will need to book a consultation with the bee keeper and owning a hive will cost you 45 KWD + 5 KWD monthly supervision fees per hive.
There would be a small charge of 5 KWD to harvest the honey for you.
But you don’t need to have any background knowledge about bees, and they will be the ones to take care of everything related to the bees.
You will be given instructions to follow regarding the safety of the bees, and give you the training to help you learn with time about the bees and beekeeping.
